Powell Racing Team
The Powell family and their "Split Second" junior dragster

We'd like to welcome AMSOIL as our new sponsor for 2003.   AMSOIL dealer Brian Salaway has agreed to help us with our team and we now run AMSOIL in the race motor.   If you are interested in purchasing AMSOIL, contact www.americansynthetics.com and talk to Brian.   VDC Electronics remains as an Associate Sponsor.

The 2002 season saw Ali come off of the throttle-stop and make a best pass of 9.80 at 66 mph.   She won a couple of rounds during the season and got her first red-light foul starts.  Ian saw a limited schedule due to camp, but both kids raced at the Eastern Conference Finals in Pennsylvania and at Englishtown points races, Founder's Day Classic, and Halloween Bash.

For 2003, the car has a taller roll cage, new seat belts as per rule changes, and various regular maintenance parts.   We will continue this season to race as a brother/sister team in different age brackets.  The junior dragster will be in carshows and various non-racing events on Long Island.

For 2002, the big change will be the addition of sister Alexandra as a co-driver. She will share the car and race in a different age bracket. The car will have a throttle-stop for her until she becomes familiar with driving. We have already appeared in the Bayport-Bluepoint St. Patrick's Day parade where we fired it up in front of the reviewing stand. The applause was as loud as the car!

Our 2001 season saw a runner-up against a tough New Jersey league, participation in the Division 1 race in Maryland, and in the East Coast Nationals in Maple Grove, Pennsylvania. We also attended the Founder's East Coast Nationals, Ian talked his way into an interview that was used during the television special shown twice on Speedvision. We also experienced our first engine explosions and the only thing hurt was our budget and dad's nerves.

My son Ian and I would would like to thank Mr. Bill Woods of VDC Electronics, Inc.  He has been personally involved in supporting and encouraging our race team.  We've been able to sell his product for a small profit yet at a reduced cost to our customers, thereby allowing us to upgrade our equipment as well as offer our customers a great deal on these battery chargers!   He has been the only business to acknowledge us with not only a response but actual sponsorship.  We wish to offer our sincere appreciation to Mr. Woods for all his assistance and support.

BatteryMinder BatteryMINDer Charger /Maintainer/ Conditioner is the first of a new generation of  "Computer-on-a-chip" units which automatically charges any type 12-volts storage battery, without ever overcharging, while conditioning "sulphated" batteries (Sulphation is considered to be the #1 cause of early battery failure). Dubbed the "charger with a brain", it is believed to be the first charger of its kind to reverse the primary cause of early battery failure known as "sulphation". Batteries that were considered unrecoverable, can now be brought back to long term useful condition.  A simple press of the button starts the then fully automatic de-sulphation process. Unique patent pending PulseMode circuitry (U.S. Patent and Trademark Office assigned Patent Pending Serial  #60/083,473) creates high-frequency pulses that break down the sulphated crystals which form on older batteries, preventing them from ever again reaching their full charge capacity. The battery is then able to reach its full level of charge, without excessive heat generation. Any 12-volt maintenance or Maintenance-free type battery including gel and deep cycle (up to 4 at once) can be left on charge for months at a time without fear of damage. Water never needs to be replaced while batteries are being maintained with BatteryMINDer as the unit never "boils out" the electrolyte.  The unit plugs directly into a standard wall outlet (or extension  cord) eliminating the need to disconnect the battery from its normal use location.
