Denny's Teardrop Trailer Resto

This is a 1956 Sierra Teardrop Trailer.  It has a plate on the side that says Sierra by G & H Cabinets in Van Nuys, CA. The trailer frame is by Zieman.  Zieman is still in business, but could not tell us anything.   I guess 30 years was long enough for them to keep records.   It has a sleeping area for 4 people.   The top bunk fold up out of the way for seating inside.  The body is 5' tall X 6' wide x 9' long.

A closer look at the inside of the trailer.

Showing the teardrop, and you can see the fold up kitchen in the back.

This is what was left of the kitchen.   Restoration is still at the planning stages.   If anyone has one of these, I would like to hear from you. E-mail tinman56@chartertn.net.

This is a 1947 Teardrop Trailer.   The make is a Modernaire.  When we got this it had 5 coats of paint on it.  We totally refurbished it inside and out.   A new frame was fabricated with air ride suspension to match our 1946 Chevy truck.   They are going to be a matched set.

All aluminum body, including the original fenders.   The stove is the original propane stove and the trailer size is 4'tall X 4'wide X 10' long.   It has a sleeping area that is 7' long.

The choice of wood is Honduras Mahogany.   We were going for the old boat look.   Our truck will have the same colors.

You can see the control center for the air ride suspension and electrical system in the center.  There are his and hers storage cabinets on both sides.  An air vent at the top allows airflow when needed.

Someone saw our teardrop of the internet, and wrote to us.  They said they knew the guy who owned the company.  He was able to get us this flyer (below) on the trailer.
