Phase 4 -- Ladder Bar Mounts With the frame all done, I will now install the ladder bar mounts. Still following the prints, I locate the proper position for the mounts, cut them at the proper angle to fit the bottom side of the frame. They need to be parallel to each other so I use a piece of ready rod and 4 nuts with washers to do this. I put the rod through the holes and tighten the nuts so they are spaced properly. Then I position them under the frame, check them for plumb and level and tack weld them in place. I won't weld them totally at this point because I will want to install the rearend with the ladder bars and check to make sure the rearend is square in the car first. I'll need to install the upper shock crossmember, but since I don't have the rear wheels to find my proper ride height, I can't do this yet. That being the case, I will proceed to install the roll cage... Main Page-The Plan |
