What a great country we live in!

The plight of Geocities

For over three years I maintained a site that looked just like this one at Geocities. I put up with the little hidden codes that were required in each page, the little popups that would annoy users if you didn't use a specific code. The little watermarks that would move with the page to get in the way of great pictures. All without a word. Then, I decided to give folks another door to the site. This one. A fairly typical mirror page. They are everywhere on the net. But, on 1 March, 2000, I get a note from the folks a Yahoo (who bought out Geocities) telling me that I'm in violation of their policy because this page points to their site.
I was given 7 days to respond or my site would be deleted. I responded the same day. So, stick with me... 1 March + 7 days = 8 March. Pretty simple math. I decided if they didn't like mirrors, I would go in, pull all my graphics off and move them here and bid them adeu.
No such luck. Here it is 2 March and my site has been deleted and the address already given out to someone else. Hence, all the missing graphics and busted links here until I can get them all straight again.
It's a little disheartening that a company can cancel your work for not following their rules while blatently ignoring their own rules.
So on we go. Pressing forward here. Everything will be back bigger and better with the good folks here bumping up the space to 10Megs.
Stay tuned in and formulate your own opinions as to the validity of the other site.
For now, Me and my caddy will be right here.

Hope you enjoy it...
