BRACKET RACING

Here is my first "race car". It was a 1969 Chevrolet
Impala powered by a 396. The year was 1977. Ironically, it ran almost exactly the same kind of numbers that our 1994 3.8L V6 Buick Regal runs now. |

RACING. I can't afford RACING. That's why I run BRACKETS". |

Here is one of my first checks from the track.
This one came from Capitol Raceway in Crofton, MD. I also ran at 75-80
Dragway in Monrovia, MD. It is almost as if I have come full circle
now. Twenty some years later, I was running in a DOT only $10 entry
fee/ $100 for first place class. Our hometrack now is called
Brewer's and is located in Sharpsburg, North Carolina. Unfortunately, Brewer's has dropped their bracket program and I now have to travel to bracket race. |

It didn't take long before I bought this 1967 Camaro.
1977 or 1978, I had it out at the track. You can see in this
picture from Capitol Raceway, that rust was showing in a couple of places.
I had to remove my trim rings and center caps at NHRA tracks. On IHRA
and independent tracks, they stay on. Mighty ugly without them, isn't
it? This is the same 396 that resides in the car today.

As can be
seen here, I also had ANOTHER 1967 Camaro, ALSO with a 396.
I never raced it, and didn't hold on to it long either.
