Before mixing resin, or even before gel coating, it is a good idea to pre tare the mat's you will be using and lay them out as to the way you will be applying them. Any place the body lines make sharp bends (door openings, body corners) fray the mat so that the strands only will roll over the edge. This will prevent air bubbles which get very difficult to work out some times. Once the resin is mixed you have only so much time to use it.

Do not overlap the edges of the mat. Butt the frayed edges up. Overlapping the mat can cause distortion in the surface due to mold thickness inconsistiency when building the thickness up. It also causes un even heating and cooling of the surfaces due to the thickness variations.
