That's right, I'm getting out
of drag racing for the time being. Life changes and
unfortunately I have to send the car down the road.
Please email
me if you have any
interest or tell someone that might be. If there is not
enough info on this site for you or you are interested,
email me with a number that I can reach you at or I will
send you my number if that is more comfortable for
you.
Our best pass last year was a 9.72
@ 135mph. We had some pretty bad luck at the beginning of
last year, but now everything is straightened out, and we
are on the right track. We've only made a couple dozen
passes last season on the fresh motor, and had some
transmission problems (see below), which are now fixed,
but we've run consistent 9.72 in the heat of the day
without alot of tuning so far. We are hoping to make a
few nitrous passes this year with our two stage Top Gun
Nitrous system, but because the car is up for sale, we
just want to be conservative with everything that we
have. We are really impressed with the carbs and the
advantages of using alcohol. Patrick over at
Pro
Systems did a great job
on converting the carbs as well as excellent after sale
service.
Transmission
Update:
Well I have quite
the story to tell about our transmission adventures. This
spring when I decided to go with the powerglide
transmission, I did a ton of research trying to find the
best transmission without putting myself in the
poorhouse. I talked with Gene at
Liberty
Performance
(Liberty, IL 217-593-6000) about building a transmission
for my combination. Gene was very knowledgeable and had
everything that I wanted at an unbelievably low price. We
received the transmission in the spring of 2000 and
installed it into the Mustang, we were very disappointed
when a few things didn't quite work out in the
transmission, come to find out it was a miscommunication
between parties. So we decided have a "friend" go through
it and "fix" our problem instead of sending it off to
Liberty to save money.
We made about 3
passes with the car before first gear was gone. So this
time we made the trip to Liberty to have Gene take a look
at the glide and fix the problem. Once he opened the
transmission, to our disappointment, our "friend" had
stolen almost all of the good parts!! Gene went through
and replaced every missing part and rebuilt the tranny
without costing us a dime. Since then the tranny has
worked flawless and our only regret is that we didn't
take it back to Gene the first time. I understand that
sometimes mistakes are made, but Gene went above and
beyond to make sure that his name and reputation were not
tainted, but more importantly that his customer was taken
care of. We are extremely impressed by Gene and Liberty
Performance and would recommend him to
anyone.
